The Sand Mountain Water Authority and the North Jackson County Water Authority contracted GEC to conduct an in depth study of their systems hydraulics and assist them in the design, bid, and construction management of a project to solve their hydraulic issues for the next decade. The two water systems recently participated in the construction of a water treatment facility located on the Tennessee River near Long Island Creek and needed assistance in moving water throughout their systems to meet the growing needs of the rural customers, and small farms on Sand Mountain in DeKalb and Jackson Counties. The project consisted of upgrading four existing water pump stations, the construction of one new water booster station and approximately 110,000 linear feet of 10” and 8” water transmission main located on state and county right of ways. This project was intended strictly as a transmission main project, and had no residential services included. The construction price for the project is approximately $3.2 million. The project was completed in November, 2013 on time, and under budget.
