Northeast Alabama Water, Sewer & Fire Protection District retained GEC to assist with obtaining the grant funds, designing, handling the bid phase, and construction management, as to install an emergency standby generator at the Smith Gap Pump Station. The addition of this generator has enabled the Water District to be able to continually supply water from the Monsanto Water Treatment Plant on the Tennessee River in Marshall County to areas on Sand Mountain in Southern DeKalb County. The project consisted of the installation of a 450 Kw generator and a new control panel for the existing pump station. Total cost of the project was approximately $211,000.00
